The integrated baffle system version of the JHM high flow catted downpipes w/ X-Pipe are for those looking for a quieter exhaust system. The baffles have been designed and strategically located in the downpipes to reduce unwanted drone and rasp (please note that this is also dependant on which cat-back exhaust system you have installed to your Q7, results may vary). JHM used popular exhaust systems for their trials (AWE Touring & Track) along with their JHM Race Pipes and were able to get the interior noise down to just 70db while cruising at 70mph in 6th gear at 2500RPM with the JHM Baffled Downpipes. That is 10db quieter than the AWE Touring and 15db quieter than the AWE Track systems WITHOUT the JHM Baffled Downpipes installed. During our testing, at 70db we heard more road/tire noise than exhaust. Note: The main purpose of the Integrated Baffle System is to combat unwanted drone and take the edge off rasp that may be produced by the exhaust gasses.
Built as a direct OEM replacement, JHM Catted Downpipes with X-pipe are easy to install with simple hand tools with no cutting or welding required. These downpipes are designed to increase low-end torque and maximize power throughout the entire RPM band. By moving the catalytic converters further downstream into the downpipes, JHM was able to take full advantage of their own 2.5" Race Pipes to alleviate heat build-up close to the engine. As a result, this increases Catalytic Converter longevity, as well as overall engine performance.
Please note: These downpipes do not replace, but instead relocate the factory catalytic converter sections that are directly connected to the exhaust manifolds. Instead, these downpipes connect to the factory catalytic converter section. Please see the illustration in the images above for more information. You will need to either purchase a set of JHM Race Pipes (see links above for pipes that are applicable to your model) or modify your existing factory downpipes in order to properly install these downpipes.
