TCU TUNE REQUIRED

Once tuned, massive horsepower and torque gains are seen throughout the entire powerband that exceed the torque limitations of the stock transmission tune and limits power output. To solve this, a matching transmission Stage 1 TCU Tune (included) or Stage 2 TCU Tune (sold separately) is required. The Stage 3 ECU Tune includes a free upgrade to the Stage 3 TCU Tune IF you have already purchased the Stage 2 TCU Tune.

STAGE 1 TCU TUNE

IE's stage 1 TCU tune raises the torque limits of your AL552 ZF8 automatic transmission to allow the power gains from IE ECU Tunes. Stage 1 fully realizes all available performance from the IE ECU Stages while keeping all transmission driving characteristics otherwise stock.

The IE Stage 1 TCU tune is included with all B9 3.0T ECU calibrations at no extra charge.

STAGE 2 TCU TUNE

IE's stage 2 TCU tune offers further performance calibraitons that deliver raised torque limits, faster shifts, optimized shift points, multiple launch-control modes, enthusiast drive mapping, and more! When paired with an ECU tune, Stage 2 TCU will significantly transform every performance aspect of your B9 3.0T delivering faster launches, higher Gs, and further improved acceleration.

STAGE 3 TCU TUNE

IE Stage 3 and Stage 3 Plus ECU tunes deliver massive power gains across the entire powerband and further into the higher RPM range. These performance enhancements require a complete matching transmission calibration. IE Stage 3 TCU Tune is the matching transmission calibration for the hybrid turbo with optimized shift points, further increased RPM limits, and new drive-mapping.

This tune is provided as a free upgrade from Stage 2 TCU Tunes when upgrading to Stage 3 TTE710 ECU.

IE's POWERlink Cable and Flash Wizard software gives you the freedom to quickly flash your new IE ECU Tune. Simply plug your POWERlink into the vehicle's OBD-2 port and follow the on-screen directions, it's that easy!

Please note that if you are planning on flashing your car at home, we highly recommend having a proper battery charger on hand. If your vehicle loses power while flashing it, you run the risk of damaging your ECU.

IE Stage 3 offers an easy upgrade into hybrid turbo power levels on pump fuel (91, 93, or 104 octanes) with only the turbocharger upgrade and stage 2 hardware (intake, turbo inlet, intercooler, & downpipe). This setup delivers deceivingly fast performance on stock MAP sensors without additional fueling upgrades.

These HPFP tune files require all the hardware from Stage 3 plus an upgraded HPFP internal kit and 4 bar MAP sensors.

IE Stage 3 plus is for those looking to smash the competition with the maximum power output available from the hybrid turbocharger. This blistering fast calibration unlocks E70 ethanol blend and additional power on all octane fuels with an upgraded HPFP, TTE 4 bar map sensors, and upgraded injectors. Ethanol content must not exceed E70 of the required blend; an ethanol content sensor kit and gauge are highly recommended.

IE engineers and calibrators valued fast boost response, top-end power, and a robust build when selecting a supported turbocharger as the base for our Stage 3 tuning. After extensive research and testing, we found multiple hybrid turbo options that offer a unique combination of big top-end power and responsive boost with very minimal lag, all wrapped up in an easy direct bolt-in install. Combined with IE's calibration strategies, the result is a perfect marriage of modern vehicle tech and raw chest-pounding performance. Turbocharger is sold separately.

ETHANOL FUELS

E85 & E40 blend ethanol fuels unlock the most performance potential from our ECU tunes for your Audi S4 or S5. Ethanol contains tons of oxygen, burns cooler, and has a high resistance to knock. This provides more horsepower and torque than running conventional gasoline and is much less expensive than race gas. E40 Track Blend and E85 Drag Race are included with all IE Stages.

FULL E85 DRAG RACE

IE calibrators spent many months developing and testing ethanol blends on the B9 3.0T engines in many climates and elevations. Results were consistent that full E85 runs very close to or beyond the limit of the factory direct injection (DI) fuel system in the mid-range but allows for more power up top. IE's E85 calibration keeps mid-range power in check to avoid lean conditions, misfires, and power loss then ramps it up top for amazingly fast and consistent track times in a drag racing scenario. E85 is also great for easy fill-ups at the pump for daily driving without mixing blends.

E40 TRACK BLEND

E40 Race Blend is an ethanol mix of E85 with regular pump 91/93 fuel creating a lower ethanol content fuel. E40 offers the optimal ethanol content for the factory DI fuel system in the mid-range of the power band. The lower content ethanol allows this file to create the maximum power output from 3000RPM-4000RPM, perfect for road course and track racing. E40 will also result in a faster feeling car in most street driving situations. An ethanol content sensor kit is highly recommended when running ethanol blends.

EGT OPTIMIZATION

Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) is the measurement of fuel mixtures exiting the exhaust and is used to determine the health of the fuel/air mixture entering the engine. IE engineers have spent countless hours adjusting boost air/fuel ratio, ignition timing angle, camshaft phasing, intake air temps, and much more to develop the proper EGT adjustments for ultimate engine safety without sacrificing power on all octanes. Since Ethanol burns cooler than gasoline, the extra fuel left over in the cylinders acts as coolant further reducing combustion temperatures and allows for a leaner air to fuel ratio without dangerous EGT levels. All IE files contain safety measures and complete knock control to keep the engine producing it's potential within verified and safety-first operation.

RELIABILITY TESTING

IE's fully proven software brings track-ready ECU programming to your turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine while retaining factory comfort and reliability. IE's own tuning technology suite is used to completely reverse-engineer the factory ECU mapping, allowing our software engineers access to realign all safety protocols and sensors for the new performance calibration. Every tune parameter undergoes months of testing on our in-house dyno systems that utilize the world's only Sea Level Generator developed specifically to verify tune operations in any condition. BRAKE BOOST

Commonly used in roll racing, Brake Boosting allows you to build extra boost by applying brake pressure while accelerating. Release the brake pressure for a "rolling launch" or extra surge of power. Brake Boost is included on all tune stages.

DYNAMIC OVERRUN

The stock calibration features a very mild overrun/crackle when you decelerate from higher RPM, but is very hard to hear with factory downpipe/exhaust. The IE Stage 2 files turn up the aggressiveness of this overrun and enable crackles on free-revving in neutral or park. Not only will your car drive faster, it will sound faster too! Guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

RECALIBRATED VE

The factory engine calibration shows a significant drop in torque and power around 3000 RPM due to the unique volumetric efficiency (VE) of the stock 3.0T engine. Instead of tuning around this drop in VE or attempting to simply raise the factory torque/load maps to compensate, our calibrators have completely solved and removed this drop from our ECU calibrations entirely.

BOOST CONTROL

The stock ECU boost control is delivered in a very “close enough” and erratic boost curve. This slow response is reflected in the factory torque curve and can be felt on long power pulls when utilizing the entire powerband. To smooth out this torque curve, IE calibrators re-tuned the boost control mapping to be much faster achieving precision boost request targeting that results in unmatched power delivery.

THROTTLE MAPPING

The new generation Audi MG1 ECU uses a complicated mass flow model to calculate boost control. Typical ECU tunes simply raise the wastegate pressure, however, since the maps that control wastegate position (boost) are not controlled by throttle input resulting in limited throttle predictability. To avoid delivering full-boost at half throttle input, IE engineers have taken the care to rescale the entire mass flow model mathematically over 30 maps which correct the entire range of throttle input. This delivers a linear and predictable throttle pedal which improves drivability in every situation on the street or track.
