Genuine Audi coolant shut-off (bypass) valve for Audi EA839 2.9T and 3.0T equipped vehicles.
This coolant bypass valve is used to regulate the flow of coolant in the engine during warm up. By regulating the flow of coolant to the engine, the engine will warm up faster, which improves engine efficiency. In turn, this improved efficiency is better for emissions.
This valve commonly fails due to the internal diaphragm tearing. This failure can also be caused due to migrating coolant from a failed water pump. Even if this valve hasn't failed, we highly recommend replacing it when replacing the water pump simply because of the ease of access to it when the front of the vehicle is off.
Common signs of failure of the coolant bypass valve are: loss of coolant, irregular coolant temperature changes or overheating.
