Fits the following vehicles:
- -Golf / Jetta models, most 1985 to 1987, including GTI / GLI variations. *Fits up to VIN 010 564. Most 1987 and earlier Mk2 cars use this ball joint. Some 1988 models (mostly GL) could still use this ball joint, while most will use the later style.
The ball joint is a highly stressed, and crucial part of your steering and suspension system. A bad ball joint can lead to a number of noises and increased slop in the steering, and eventually, full failure. They tend to last a while even with heavy use, but it's best to check them regularly to make sure there are no tears or play.
