Staying on top of your transmission maintenance is key to a smooth driving Audi. If you're having issues with slow or harsh shifting, changing the fluid can often help.

Service Interval
Audi technically does not have a service interval for this transmission and considers the fluid "lifetime." However, ZF (the manufacturer of the transmission) states that the fluid and filter should be changed between 50,000 and 80,000 miles, depending on your driving style. If you tend to push your car harder, we recommend servicing the transmission around 50-60,000 miles. If you tend to do mostly easy highway cruising, then changing it at between 70-80,000 miles is fine.

No Unnecessary Fluid!
You may have noticed that we only include 6 liters of fluid in our kit. Other online stores will include 8 to 9 liters of fluid in their kits. This is completely unnecessary. If you are performing a normal transmission fluid/filter service, it is impossible to use more than 6 liters of fluid. Other online stores list 8 to 9 liters because the maximum fluid capacity of the ZF 8HP transmission is 8.6 liters, which allows them to sell you fluid you can't actually use.
