Engineered and manufactured by the same experts that make the factory clutch already in your car, the Sachs Performance "Racing" clutch kit is a great choice for track-day enthusiasts looking to replace their factory clutch. This kit is designed to use a factory dual-mass flywheel for the ultimate drop-in clutch upgrade solution.
Each Sachs performance clutch kit features a reinforced pressure plate designed specifically for your VW/Audi application. The pressure plate is re-inforced to handle the extra torque produced by upgrading your engine.
At the center of the Sachs performance clutch kit is their sinter-pad clutch disk. This sintered metal plate clutch disk design has a higher friction coefficient than plates with organic friction material. This design allows for higher transmittable torque and makes them very dirt and oil resistant. This disc provides very quick, aggressive actuation. In addition, the thermal and wear resistance of this disc is significantly better than the factory unit, providing you with years of reliable performance.
The weak two-mass flywheel has been replaced with a lightened single-mass steel flywheel. Your original throwout/clutch release bearing will still work with this kit.
Why use a single mass flywheel?
Light weight flywheels keep less inertia in storage but the lighter rotating mass provides significantly better engine response and acceleration.
To compensate for the lack of a dual mass flywheel and its vibration damping, the SACHS Performance clutch kit contains a clutch disc with torsion springs that functions as a vibration damper between the engine and gearbox. Please note that due to the reduction of mass and a more rigid connection, a stronger transfer of transmission noise can occur.
Applications and typical usage:
We recommend this clutch kit for enthusiasts with up to Stage 3+ turbocharger upgrades. Typical use includes heavy track day or drag-racing. Due to the increased aggressiveness of this kit, we do not recommend it for vehicles that will see a lot of daily driven use.
