Staying on top of your transmission maintenance is key to a smooth driving Audi. If you're having issues with slow or harsh shifting, changing the fluid can often help.

Service Interval
Audi technically does not have a service interval for this transmission and considers the fluid "lifetime." However, ZF (the manufacturer of the transmission) states that the fluid and filter should be changed between 40,000 and 50,000 miles, depending on your driving style.

Technically you should replace the filter at the same time, but we realize that some people that don't push their car very hard may prefer to simply perform a fluid change instead. If you do drive your car hard, we highly recommend changing the filter whenever you change the fluid. Also, even if you aren't driving your car hard, you should change the filter at least every 80k, or roughly every other fluid change service.

No Unnecessary Fill/Drain Plugs
If you've been comparing this kit with the competition, you'll notice that we don't include 9 drain/fill plugs. That is because the main drain plug on the bottom of the transmission pan is re-usable. There is only a single fill plug that needs to be replaced on the side of the transmission. This is the difference in expertise between other online stores that slap together parts kits and a company that actually actively works on these vehicles.
