Audi and VWs equipped with a CBFA gen1 2.0T TSI engine have an extra ozone sensor attached to the radiator. To properly pass emissions, this sensor must be working correctly.
However, VW decided to only make this sensor available as part of the entire radiator assembly. That means if your sensor has failed and you're getting a CEL because of it, you'll have to buy an entire radiator just to replace one small part.
This sensor is produced by Mercedes as a replacement part for their vehicles, but it just so happens to also work in Audi/VW applications. We have tested and proven this solution to work at our own service shops on several vehicles.
Installation:
You will need to cut the connector off of the new Mercedes sensor and splice in the connector from your original Audi/VW sensor. The wiring coloring matches between the two sensors, so splicing in the new sensor is fairly straight-forward.
If you are not familiar with splicing wiring, we highly recommend having a professional install this sensor for you. Once you have cut the connector, this sensor cannot be returned.
Fitment/Applications:
- 2008.5-2017 Audi and VW models equipped with CBFA engine code Gen1 TSI engines
