The front control arm rear bushings on VW Mk5, Mk6 and Audi 8P A3 come from the factory with several open voids in them. This is a design feature that allows the bushing to be more flexible and cope with bumps or inconsistencies in the road. While this does provide you with improved ride comfort, it also limits the effectiveness of your suspension due to the extra travel or deflection that it gives.
That's where these OEM+ bushings come in with their solid, void-free design. While this will firm up your ride and increase NVH a bit, the handling benefits are immediately noticable. Installing these will mean that your suspension no longer has to fight the bushing flex, allowing your steering input to be more sharper and more direct.
Installation
Simply press your puny stock bushing out of the bracket and press in your new and improved bushing. A hydraulic press or similar tool is required to do this, so professional installation is higly recommended. A vehicle alignment may also be required after installation.
