Bring your 2.5L 5 cylinder VW engine to life with the Integrated Engineering cast intake manifold. The factory 2.5L 5 cylinder intake manifold is designed to channel air into the engine sufficiently well to meet the original horsepower targets, while being cost effective and easy to install. This compromise means that there is room for significant improvement. The IE performance manifold has been designed from the bottom up to put performance first. IE engineers exploit careful tuning of the intake manifold runner lengths and diameters to create a resonance effect which rams more air into the cylinders. The plenum and runner designs have been carefully optimized with computer software for maximum flow, allowing your engine to breathe easier and perform at its best.
Integrated Engineering 2.5L Stage 2 Intake Manifold Software:
The IE Stage 2 performance flash for VW 2.5L engines is designed specifically to recalibrate the naturally aspirated 2.5L engine for use with the IE intake manifold. This software incorporates the same attention to detail as the perfomance intake manifold and enables IE to offer a complete performance package. With use of our in-house Dynapack DP42 dynamometer, we are able to do repeated runs to test each change that is made to the software and confirm performance and drivability. Although ECU recalibration is used to increase the power output from the engine, we also focus on increasing the all-around drivability. That is to not only provide more horsepower and torque, but make the driving experience more enjoyable by removing rev hang, increasing throttle response, and increasing the rev limiter. With this software, IE intake manifold, and an IE cold air intake kit (sold separately), power output is increased to 180FT/LBS and 218HP. With such a significant power increase, it makes the vehicle much more enjoyable to drive, with plenty of power available until redline.
We have carefully engineered and tested this power kit in house to get the best results possible in any condition. Due to the unique plenum and runner design of our manifold, your 2.5L 5 cylinder engine will be allowed to breathe the way that it naturally wants to. The maniofld, software, and air intake will allow for great gains over the factory setup, extending the powerband further into the RPM range. We have carefully engineered and tested this combination in house to get the best results possible in any condition. During testing performed on our in house engine dyno, the IE 2.5L intake manifold power kit produced excellent power gains through the mid-high range and very little low end power sacrifice with maximum gains of 48.2BHPover the factory manifold.
The Integrated Engineering 2.5L ultimate power kit has been carefully designed to fit 2.5L engines from 2005-2012 with the electric power steering system. Through extensive research and development, this intake manifold fits with no modifications to the engine bay, vacuum system, emissions systems, fuel system, or coolant system. With the plenum being larger than factory, the throttle body placement is moved a small amount, which is easily plumbed to your mass air flow sensor using the IE 2.5L manifold air intake kit (sold separately).
USA Cast Aluminum:
IE manifolds are cast from a special self aging, self hardening alloy with especially strict requirements for chemical composition. Top of the line Japanese machining centers machine all major surfaces of the parts in one setup, ensuring perfect fit, finish, and maximum value.
Increased Plenum Volume:
This plenum on this manifold has been generously sized and shaped to distribute airflow as evenly as possible to all 5 cylinders. The increased internal volume is a massive improvement over the factory piece and ensures a steady supply of air for the engine.
Flow Tuned Runner Design:
By using a cast aluminum construction manifold, our engineers are able to properly size and shape the manifold runners and velocity stacks for optimal performance. This runner flow and resonance tuning is a huge contributor to the over-all performance of the intake manifold, and is not possible to acheive on hand welded manifolds generally available for this platform. Featuring aggressively sized runners that have been optimally tuned for large power increases throughout the mid-high RPM band. Our engineers employ CFD software to research and develop an optimized runner and bellmouth design, after many revisions to the design they have acheived the best runner shape, size, and velocity stack for the 2.5L application.
After completely reverse engineering the factory ECU, IE engineers spend countless hours on our in-house Dynapack DP42 dynamometer to perform repeated runs. This process tests every single change made to the software and confirms performance and drivability in any situation.
Removed Speed Limiter:
The factory ECU speed limiter has been removed to make sure the increased power and torque can be used to its full potential on straightaways and drag strips.
Increased Rev Limit:
Our engineers have calibrated the ECU to extend the rev limiter to match the powerband of the IE intake manifold. This specific flash has raised the rev limiter increased to a 7200RPM, which is a perfect match for the new performance manifold powerband and the OEM engine internals.
Improved Throttle Response:
To further increase the responsive feel of the car, IE engineers have carefully adjusted the throttle sensitivity. This offers a more connected feeling to your car with plenty of power available right beneath your foot.
To compliment the impressive performance of the manifold design, IE engineers have taken special care to make a visually appealing piece that not only compliments, but enhances the look of the 2.5L engine bay. The beautiful USA cast aluminum surface is available in raw or powdercoated satin black finish, the easy to clean powdercoat will ensure the manifold stays looking nice for a lifetime. The top of the manifold features a brushed metal recessed IE logo plate.
Unlike other manifolds on the market that are simply welded and made to fit on the car, IE's performance intake manifolds receive special treatment from start to finish. Our engineering department looks at each specific application and designs an intake manifold with a properly sized runner and plenum. Then we begin a series of prototyping and testing countless revisions to the design to ensure optimum performance. Our engineers use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to optimize the runner and velocity stack (bellmouth) system for proper resonance tuning and airflow. Unlike competitor manifolds, we use this process on each manifold to design the application-specific runner system to maximize airflow delivery to the cylinders.
Once the manifold has been designed and flow has been optimized, the 3D models head over to our 3D printing studio to manufacture the initial prototype. The 3D printed manifold is fastened onto our in-house engine dynamometer and in-house chassis dynamometer for testing. To validate the plenum, runner, and bellmouth design, we test each revision in a controlled environment. Once all testing data has been collected, it is analyzed and used to determine if changes are necessary before going to production.
